General meetings are on the 4th Monday of January, March, July, September, November.

BCHC MOTHER LODE UNIT PHILOSOPHY AND PURPOSE
Backcountry Horsemen of California- Mother Lode Unit covers Sacramento, El Dorado, Amador and part of Placer Counties. We are one of the 23 units of the Backcountry Horsemen of California. MLU became a unit in 1984, and is one of the original members of High Sierra Stock Users, later BCH California.
BACKCOUNTRY HORSEMEN OF CALIFORNIA
To perpetuate the common-sense use and enjoyment of horses in America’s backcountry and wilderness.
To work to ensure that public lands remain open to recreational stock use.
To assist the various government and private agencies in their maintenance and management of said resource.
To educate, encourage and solicit active participation in the wise use of the backcountry resource by horsemen and the general public commensurate with our heritage.
